Men would gather not only to test their strength but to demonstrate skill, strategy, and endurance, with matches accompanied by drumming and chants that energized the crowd.

In the arena, two wrestlers aim to throw their opponent out of the marked circle, each move reflecting generations of tradition and technique passed down over time. Beyond the competition, Laamb has always been a social event, a way for communities to honor ancestral roots and come together in shared pride.

Today, Laamb has grown into a professional sport, maintaining its cultural heartbeat while drawing audiences from across Senegal and beyond, preserving a centuries-old tradition for the modern era.
